HUTH ONE OF THE BEST

The Stoke city director of football John Rudge has said that the former Chelsea youth team product Robert Huth is one of the best players at the club and is easily worth his weight in gold. The 27-year-old German recently signed a three-year contract with the club after a number of rumours linking him with a move away from the club. He has been a great signing for the club since arriving from Championship club Middlesbrough a few seasons ago. Due to his versatility, he has been able to fill in the centre back and right back position for manager Tony Pulis.

He has been instrumental in helping Stoke city reach the Europa league places two seasons ago, while he helped them to well in Europe last season. Yet, he has been linked with a return to Germany due to the fact that he had only one season left on his current deal. Stoke city revealed a few weeks ago that they are desperate to keep Robert Huth. The 27-year-old has now signed a new deal with the club, but it has not changed his attitude one little bit according to the director of football John Rudge.

“He is an exceptionally good character. His determination and his will-to-win means he is always somebody you would want on your side. As a player, he is strong in the air and strong in the tackle, and then there is the fact he’s scored quite a few goals for us (17 to be precise). He is physically strong, determined and competes for every ball. He’ll put his head in where others won’t put their feet. “Extending his contract shows how far the club has gone and where it wants to be,” said Rudge. Stoke city will be taking on newly promoted Reading on the opening day of the new season.
